Madison, Alabama is a town rooted in history—and in our hearts. The area surrounding our town was first settled in 1818 by John Cartwright. In the years that followed, the town grew and flourished, leading to its formal establishment as Madison Station in 1856. Madison’s historical prominence became even more firmly rooted during “The Affair at Madison Station in 1864 during the Civil War, and in 1869 the “Station” was later dropped in favor of simply “Madison.”
